Early in 2022, Speedspace was approached by Payloads / Metal Line Africa Transport, a South African logistics and supply chain firm specialising in sustainable supply chain management solutions for transport, handling and exporting of bulk ore.
The company had a very specific request for us regarding the design and supply of a modular prefabricated office block and 40′ Steelmarine shipping containers to be used for this application.
Speedspace’s sales team worked together with our design team to conceptualise and present the client with a few design options. After a few changes and some customisation requirements from the client, the order was placed and our production team was tasked with turning the presented concept into reality.
Payloads / Metal Line Africa’s bulk handling facility, established in 2018, is well equipped to handle significant volumes of mineral ore. Metal Line has carved a niche in the chrome/ferrochrome industry with this well-designed, functional facility for receiving, storing, loading and dispatching large volumes of bulk minerals. The addition of their new containerised offices, well placed atop an existing building, is sure to add value to this world-class facility.
Production commenced in July and the project was completed and signed off at the end of August. Twelve forty-foot marine containers were used in the project, totalling 345sqm. These containers were converted and insulated to provide a comfortable office complex suited to its environment and application.
