This week we showcase a Speedspace project involving our Kathu office in the Northern Cape, which responded to the needs of a customer and produced a solution that was able to overcome challenges posed by the remote nature of the location and the size of the building that was required.
This particular UfuduCabin modular building was supplied to a local Iron Ore mine in the Northern Cape. The mine required a facility that could house various classroom or “caucus” rooms to assist with information sharing, training and larger meetings while allowing for all of the necessary COVID protocols and social distancing.
The versatile cabins, or flatpack cabins as they are referred to in the market, lends itself to this application as the buildings are supplied in 6m modules and can be joined in any configuration to create a larger complex, as evidenced by this solution.
These cabins can be mobilised to site in a very short time-frame and assembled on a compacted surface without the need for a concrete base as it comes complete with a stable floor structure.
In this case, Speedspace had only 52 days to supply, deliver and assemble the building on site. We managed to complete the structure including a conventional roof structure in time and within the customer’s budget to our client’s complete satisfaction.
Adjacent to this UfuduCabin structure is one of our Speedplan changerooms which Speedspace proudly supplied four years ago, and it is still in excellent condition.
