Modified Shipping Containers

Speedspace subsidiary Ufudu Zambia recently completed and delivered new 480 square metre offices in Lusaka for the World Food Program. Made from 16 fully modified shipping containers, the large office block was constructed to exact specifications and fully kitted out with all of the high-end features one would expect to find in a conventional office complex.

That included sliding windows with roller shutters, air conditioners, comfortable flooring, power skirting, office lighting and kitchen counters and cabinetry.

The World Food Program, the world’s largest humanitarian organisation addressing hunger and promoting food security, will use its new premises to bolster efforts to address those important issues in Zambia and other countries in the region. The World Food Program provides food assistance to an average of 91.4 million people in 83 countries each year.

Having previously produced a double-storey 120 square metre office block in Lusaka for the World Food Program in 2020, our Zambian subsidiary was contracted to design, fabricate and install a further entire office block to support the efforts of the global food assistance program. This project took us only three months to complete, and the WFP is now able to expand its operations using this modern facility.

The trust shown in Speedspace and our subsidiary Ufudu Zambia by the World Food Program is a testament to the quality of our prefabricated modular buildings and the design capabilities of our people across southern Africa.
